So Terry decided to publish Kinky & Cosy. Party in the house! Besides an exhibition in Manhattan in 2008, that’ll be their first step on the North-American soil. In the following posts I’ll try to give you, reader of the NBM blog, something of a background of this series. But in the meantime: here is what Kinky & Cosy started as : a 3 pannel newspaper comic.

Nix
Nix was not formally trained in any art institution. In fact, he graduated from the University of Leuven in Belgium as an Electrical Engineer. After leaving the security of a stable job in telecom services, Nix decided to follow his passion in comics. Nix, a.k.a. Marnix Verduyn, is the creator of the newspaper comic strips ‘Kinky & Cosy’ and ‘Billy Bob’. His comics get your attention for both their visual style as by their utter depravity. Absurd humor, strange characters, an atmosphere of another world, absolutely kinky and very rock’n roll. Besides finding expression through comics and animation (for MTV and VRT), his works have been displayed in exhibitions all over Europe, as well as New York and Singapore. Nix’ sense of humor also surfaces in his involvement in stand-up comedy performances in Holland and France. Nix has been for 10 years a Professor at Saint-Lukas art school in Brussels, Comics section. Kinky & Cosy won the 2006 Angoulême Award for Best Humor Comic and the Youth Award ‘Le Petit Spirou’ at the Brussels Comic Festival 2007.
