Margreet de Heer

Margreet de Heer studied theology but decided to become a comic artist. After graduating in 1999 she got a job in the comic store Lambiek in Amsterdam, where she worked alongside comic expert Kees Kousemaker on the online Comiclopedia onĀ lambiek.net. They collaborated on a book on Dutch comics which appeared in 2005, after which Margreet made the switch to becoming a full-time comic artist. Her work has been published in a wide range of Dutch newspapers and magazines, from children's comics to philosophical reports in comics. These caught the interest of publishing house Meinema, who asked her to make a comic book on philosophy. 'Filosofie in Beeld' appeared in 2010 ("Philosophy, A Discovery in Comics", NBM 2012). Following its success, Margreet made a second graphic novel on religion ("Religion, a Discovery in Comics", NBM 2015) and a third, about science. Science, A Discovery in Comics was published by NBM in 2013.
Margreet is married to artist Yiri T. Kohl, who is her sounding board and colorist. They live together in Amsterdam with two cats.
