One of the most fascinating things about David's story was how he spent a good part of his early years growing up in the rainforest, with Yanomami cousins, aunts, and uncles, and the rest of his time in the U.S. I imagine that during these years, which are pretty formative for a kid that age, that it had given him as much of a sense of home as his place in North America, even though it couldn't be more foreign. The Amazon might as well be a whole other planet in comparison to suburban New Jersey.
